Welcome!

Elie Wiesel was born on September 30,1928 in Sighet, Romania. He grew up, as a jew, in a small town where most of his life was mainly focused on family and God until 1944.  In 1944 his family and community became victims of the holocaust.  He and his father had been deported to 4 different concentration camps.  Unfortunatly Elie was the only one in his family to survive the inhumane acts of the Nazis.

After he was liberated in 1945 he decided to go to Paris and study at Sorbonne.  There he became involved in Journalism and wrote for the French newspaper L'arche.  For many years Wiesel lived in silence and didnt share his experiences with others until 1954.  In 1954 a French writer inspired Elie to write about his experiences during the Holocaust.  Scince then Elie has written more than 30 works.  He became the Chairman of the President's Commission on the Holocaust in 1978 and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.

On this home page, I'll introduce myself and talk about my reasons for wanting a web site. I might put a picture of myself on this page...or just a picture that I especially like.

What's New?

Here I might add an entry whenever I make an update to my web site. Where appropriate, I'll include a link to the change. For example:

11/1/01 - Added new photos to Vacation Album page.
